INSTITUTE FOR GENDER AND CULTURAL COMPETENCE
WE PROVIDE TRAININGS GEARED TOWARD THE PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION OF GENDER VIOLENCE
STEP IN AND STEP UP
We created the Institute for Gender and Cultural Competence (IGCC) to deliver customized discrimination, oppression, and violence prevention trainings to corporations and institutes. Our trainings equip organizations with a framework for the development of strategies that directly address civil and human rights measures, offer anti-oppression analysis and provide key points for intervention. Our work, across generations, gender, and borders, is rooted in cultural traditions that affirm the dignity and rationale of human life. Book a training with us today.
GENDER VIOLENCE AFFECTS ALL WORKPLACES
Targets of harassment were 6.5 times more likely as nontargets to change jobs, and employee turnover is costly - anywhere from $5,000 to over $200,000 per lost employee
Lost productivity of each person working in a team affected by harassment has been estimated at $22,508
Employee turnover has a greater economic cost than litigation
Intimate partner violence is estimated to cost the U.S. economy between $5.8 billion and $12.6 billion annually, up to .125% of the national gross domestic product
Between 21-60% of victims of intimate partner violence lose their jobs due to reasons stemming from abuse
Between 2003 and 2008, 142 women were murdered in their workplace by former or current intimate partners. This amounts to 22% of workplace homicides among women
